I received a free copy of this book from eBook Discovery. I chose to review this book; this is my honest review.I literally just finished this book, one of the few I couldn't put down in all my years of reading. The plot was scary, believable, and reeked of the underhanded things the public sometimes finds out about the actions of people with governmental power.
Lies, manipulation, threats, dirty deeds, and an ocean of greed leavened with politics, and big business, lead to a sinister plan which brought death to a lot of people. You will have to read the book for the full story, because I don't give spoilers.
Supporting this tale is the excellent writing of the author,Robin Mahle. This read smoothly and quickly with a wonderful sense of timing all the way through. Descriptions were done subtly and built a clear background for all the different places where events took place. Mahle's conversational skill is as outstanding, as every different person spoke in the character with which they described, men and women, alike.
This book was not just good; it was awesome! Gripping and tense, it was worth every minute I spent reading it!

Robin Mahle's “Primal Deception”, is a mystery/thriller you don't want to pass up! This is a novel that centers on espionage. This is the 1st in the series of Lacy Merrick thrillers, but is a stand-alone novel. Lacy is a civilian data-analyst, being tasked with analyzing online chatter, data breaches, social media chatter & red-flagged language for the F.B.I.
In the opening, a large mall is bombed, with multiple deaths and injuries. Lacy's husband, Jay, a top-salesman at a cyber-security company, was at the mall at the time of the bombing. A little known Islamic group claimed responsibility for the bombing, but Lacy finds a clue causing her to question this. With the help of an old friend and cyber-hacking buddy from days gone by, Lacy gains valuable info to lead her in a totally different direction. With this info in hand, she elicits the help of Special Agent Will Caison. Before they know it, they're dodging bullets, trying to stay alive, long enough to learn the truth.
When you begin this novel, it's difficult to find a stopping point. Don't even try to guess the end – you'd still be wrong!
If you like a novel filled with intrigue & continued questions, this is the book for you.
Lacy Merrick's husband (who is cyber security expert) told her that he felt there was something a little "off" with a peer’s working relationship with one of his company’s clients. Agent Will Caison and computer hacker, Aaron Hunter, work with Lacy to delve into the depths of what exactly was going on. They don’t know whom to trust, and that provides for a compelling story. The ending was powerful, and I look forward to the next book in this series by Robin Mahle.
What a wild and crazy plot. This book brings out the true intent of many political figures. As my father once said about many politicians, "He's lying because I can see his lips moving". Loved the gritty characters and gritty plot.
Very few spy novel authors ever reach the quality of Tom Clancy. Robin Mahle is one of the few who writes an intriguing and very realistic storyline. The depth of her characters along with an intricate yet simple plot keeps the reader engaged. Her story reminds us "don't trust anyone" especially our government.
This was a page Turner for sure. I couldn't hardly put it down. I fear that the things that happened in this book are happening in the world today . It's really frightening. The author really knows how to weave a story.
Very well written with a strong female protagonist (finally!) I enjoyed reading about this strong woman going through some terrible misfortunes. So many female protagonists are lost in space. Good mystery thriller. I like the authors bio and her views. Next book was out of my price range so will not buy it for that reason.
Fast moving and suspenseful with characters you want to support. Thanks for the lack of sex, bad language and gore.
